Agent and Model
Set the agent name and model, then shape its personality and durable memory for future workspaces.
#Name & Model, AGENT.md, and MEMORY.md
| Setting | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Name & Model | Choose the identity shown in workspaces and the model used when new work begins. |
| AGENT.md | Defines the agent’s personality, role, quality bar, working style, and actions that need review. The agent reads and follows it, but only you can change it. |
| MEMORY.md | Keeps important facts and durable preferences that should help across future workspaces. You can edit it, and the agent can update it when asked to remember or correct something. |
#Edit the files directly or update memory with the agent
Open AGENT.md or MEMORY.md whenever you want to review the exact guidance and facts the agent receives. You can edit and save either file directly.
The agent can read and follow AGENT.md but cannot modify it. When you want to change the agent’s personality or working instructions, open AGENT.md and edit it yourself.
The agent can update MEMORY.md when you ask it to remember an important fact, correct something it retained, or remove stale information. You can also edit MEMORY.md directly. Ask the agent to show a proposed memory change before saving when it could affect future work broadly.
#Review changes to future behavior
- Use AGENT.md for how the agent should work and communicate.
- Use MEMORY.md for facts and preferences worth retaining.
- Ask for the evidence behind a proposed memory update.
- Remove stale instructions and facts instead of letting them conflict.
